Peshawar Customs foiled arms and ammunition smuggling from Afghanistan

Peshawar (Staff Reporter) Peshawar Customs foiled the smuggling of arms and ammunition from Afghanistan to Pakistan and started legal proceedings by registering a case against the accused. Collector Peshawar Ashfaq Ahmed received credible information which was pssed on to Rizwan, Additional Collector who prepared a team under supervision of Deputy Collector, Hammad Ahmed that an attempt will be made to smuggle.A specially designed vehicle loaded with coal for Pakistan was scanned by the NLC scanner. An unusual scan image was found in the scanned images. It was found that the vehicle was specially designed for smuggling arms and ammunition. Sources Said that It was found that the vehicle was welded with metal sheets, after removing the metal sheet, a huge quantity of Arms and Ammunition including 88 numbers of 12 bore guns worth 9.68 millions rupees, 600 numbers of 12 bore cartridges worth 1.80 millions rupees, while 11000 kilograms of coal were recovered from the truck. According to the Customs, during the operation, an Afghan citizen, Abdul Qadir, was arrested, who is being investigated so that action can be taken against the suspects involved in arms smuggling.
